Founder and candidacy
Citizens4US and this proposal were created by Brent Roberson, who is currently a candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives, District 23. Roberson fully supports the proposal. Citizens4US has filed formation paperwork for a separate North Carolina nonprofit intended to operate under Section 501(c)(4); it is not Roberson’s candidate committee. The site does not solicit or accept donations and does not operate a candidate scorecard.
501(c)(4) direction
Citizens4US is intended to operate primarily to promote social welfare through public education, issue advocacy, and lawful lobbying for government reform. Any future political campaign activity would have to remain secondary to that social-welfare purpose and comply with applicable reporting, disclaimer, coordination, and tax rules.
Public-list safeguards
- The same pledge text and publication rules apply regardless of party or office.
- Citizen and candidate lists are separate, alphabetical, and display names only.
- Every name is reviewed for consent and suspected abuse or mistaken identity before publication; candidate names also require identity verification.
- Listing means only that the person signed the displayed pledge. It is not an endorsement, score, ranking, or voting recommendation.
- Email, office, website, verification notes, and technical records are not included in the public response or public page.
- A signer may request correction or removal from public display through the contact page.
Current public status
Citizens4US provides public information and voluntary pledge signing. It does not solicit or accept donations, publish candidate scores, buy political advertising, or tell visitors how to vote.
Authorities guiding the build
- Federal Election Commission rules require disclaimers on political-committee websites, covered bulk email, and paid internet public communications.
- North Carolina requires disclosure legends on reportable print, radio, and television political advertisements; state guidance currently treats internet and social-media ads differently.
- Federal communications rules require prior consent for covered automated political calls and texts to mobile phones.
